Pretty Fabrics and Trims offers a selection of beautiful hand embroidery, felt and patchwork kits, all designed by Sarah Edgar. Whether you are learning a new skill or you are a seasoned stitcher looking for the next project, at the heart of every kit, is our intention that there is always a little happiness in every stitch!
Pretty Fabrics and Trims was founded by a mother (Penny) and a daughter (Sarah) with a love of pretty fabrics and sewing. Not many weekends passed when Sarah was growing up when you couldn't hear the gentle hum of a sewing machine in the background, with Penny hard at work. It's no surprise that with both Penny and her Nanny Flo's encouragement, Sarah started sewing at an early age as soon as she could thread a needle.
Hand sewing remains Sarah's passion and she loves nothing more than sitting down with an English paper piecing, applique or an embroidery project on her lap, working on our next Pretty Fabrics and Trims exclusive design.
In addition to our kits, for over 10 years, we've also been running our exclusive Subscription Clubs, including our iconic Happy Stitches Journals. Find out more about our clubs HERE.
Andy, (Sarah's husband) joined the PF&T team a few years ago and after a swift training session with Penny on how to safely use a rotary cutter, he primarily now packs all our kits and sends our parcels full of loveliness to our customers all over the world.
Penny meanwhile does hint every now and then that she will retire, but with the arrival of every new box of pretty fabrics, she then swiftly changes her mind!
Remaining a small family business is important to us, as it allows us to maintain a personal touch in everything that we do and is why our products are only available to purchase directly from us.

OUR PRODUCTS
For all our kits we cherry pick from the finest fabrics possible including Liberty Tana Lawn™, quality WoolFelt® and threads, plus our favourite buttons and trims.
Our embroidery kits include gorgeously soft linen/cotton fabric, which is pre-printed with Sarah's hand drawn designs. This is proudly printed exclusively for us by another UK based family owned business. We also enjoy working closely with various other UK small businesses, who produce our 'Flossie' thread cards, acrylic templates, the majority of our English Paper Piece pre-cut papers, our dinky tins and our wooden notions.
If you were wondering.... 'Flossie' is our amazing embroidery thread winding machine!
Are you ready to enjoy some happy stitches?

GIVING BACK
We have always believed that having a needle and thread in our hands contributes enormously to our general well being. With this in mind we made the conscious decision from the very beginning to share our love and knowledge of sewing through free projects and 'little happy' tutorials, initially we did this through our blog.
In 2023 we introduced the PFT Schoolhouse website. This is where in addition to offering a growing selection of digital pdf patterns, you can now find a whole host of FREE Hand Embroidery Stitches and Patchwork and Quilting video tutorials, perfect should you need a little helping hand to complete our kits and patterns. Visit the PFT Schoolhouse website HERE.
We also appreciate how important it is to give back to the community, so we have over the years donated hundreds of metres of fabric to the hard working quilting charities: Project Linus and Siblings Together.
Plus, to encourage younger generations to start sewing, we have given fabric and felt to local Primary Schools and to the Textile Departments at several Senior Schools in the area.
In addition, we have a released various fundraising Charity patterns. These have included felt decorations and festive embroidery designs. To date, through your amazing donations we have raised in excess of £10,000 for our chosen charities.
