Sarah says "Inspired by a garden trellis smothered in an abundance of pretty flowers and foliage, the Floriferous Quilt includes a wonderful mix of English Paper Pieced Hexie flowers and applique…so lots of happy hand stitches!

Hand sewing for me is such a restful activity and I have always believed that having a needle and thread in my hand contributes enormously to my general wellbeing, it enables me to lose myself in the repetitive process of stitching, relaxes my mind and make me feel happy. The Limited Edition kit includes:

Introdution and Instruction Booklets
The off white Cotton/Linen background fabric as used by Sarah for the Trellis Block Centre
The stripe Cotton/Linen fabric as used by Sarah for the First Border
The beige Cotton/Linen fabric as used by Sarah for the Outer Border
The blue dot fabric as used by Sarah for the ‘trellis’ bias stems and joining hexies on Outer Border
All the feature fabrics used for Appliques and EPP elements. For these Sarah has curated a stunning bundle of over 60 different feature fabrics. Whilst some of these will be different to those used by Sarah, rest assured she has chosen a beautiful selection to give the same feel as her original quilt!

Finally, two things:

First off, if you have not used cotton/linen mix fabrics for a quilt background before, rest assured that Sarah found it was a complete joy to sew with and the finished quilt has a wonderful weight and drape.

After the quilts moment of glory for the photoshoot, Sarah came home and popped it in the washing machine at 30 degrees on a 1200 spin along with FOUR colour catchers, which are always an essential for the first few washes with a new quilt. She dried the quilt on an airer and it is now ready for family snuggles!

Secondly, whilst we have cut all the fabrics for the appliques and hexie flowers, we will be cutting the larger pieces of background cotton/linen to order, so please allow a little longer than normal for your kit to arrive.
